Cookie Policy

This page lists every cookie and browser storage entry this website uses, what each one is for, and how long it stays. It also explains the three groups you can accept or reject, and how to change your mind later.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It can hold a setting, such as the theme you picked, or an identifier that lets a measurement tool recognise the same browser across pages.

Two other kinds of browser storage do a similar job and are covered by this page as well. Local storage keeps a value until you clear it, and session storage forgets it when you close the tab. Where this policy says cookies, it means all three.

Nothing in the analytics or marketing groups is placed until you accept it. Until you choose, only the necessary group runs, and the tags for the other groups are not downloaded at all.

The three groups

Your choice is recorded per group rather than per cookie, so there are three things to decide and the first is not a decision at all.

  • Necessary (always on): Keeps the site working: your cookie choice, your theme and currency, and the security check on our forms. In this group: CloudyFy TV site preferences, Cloudflare Turnstile (sign-up form).
  • Analytics: Lets us count visits and see which pages are useful, so we can fix what is not. In this group: Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager), Microsoft Clarity, Ahrefs Web Analytics (sets no cookies).
  • Marketing: Lets advertising tools measure whether an ad brought you here and personalise what you are shown. In this group: Google advertising signals (ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation).

Cookies set by other companies

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are run by Google and Microsoft. Once you accept the analytics group, those tools also set cookies on their own domains, clarity.ms and bing.com, which only they can read.

We can stop those tools from loading, and we do until you accept them. We cannot reach into another company’s domain to delete a cookie it set. When you reject analytics after having accepted it, we tell Clarity to end the session and drop its identifiers, delete the analytics cookies stored on our own domain, and never load either tool again on this browser unless you change your mind.

Their own policies explain what they do with the data: policies.google.com/technologies/cookies and privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.

Changing your choice

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. It opens the same panel the first-visit banner opens, with a switch for each group, and the change applies as soon as you save it.

Turning a group off stops it loading, sets the Google consent signals for that group to denied, and deletes the cookies we can reach. A script that has already loaded on the page you are reading cannot be unloaded, so that part takes full effect on your next page load.

Your choice is kept for 12 months in a cookie named cfy-consent on this site. It records only the date and which groups you allowed. If we add a group, or change what a group covers, that record is treated as out of date and we ask again.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we read it as a refusal of analytics and marketing, and we do not show the banner. Nothing is stored until you decide otherwise.

You can still opt in deliberately from the Cookie settings link in the footer, and that choice is then remembered like any other.

Controls in your browser

Every major browser can block or delete cookies for a site, and private browsing windows discard them when you close the window. Blocking the necessary group is possible but will lose your theme, currency and consent choices, so the banner will appear on every page.

Clearing cookies for this site also clears the record of your consent, which is why the banner comes back afterwards.

Changes to this policy

When the tools on this site change, this page and the groups in the preferences panel change with them, and the date at the top of this page is updated. A change that widens what a group covers also resets your recorded choice, so you are asked again rather than held to an answer you gave about something else.
