What is the CloudyFy TV media library?

The media library is the single content store behind every layout, playlist, and screen on your account: images, videos, PDFs, GIFs, and sliders, organized into folders and reused across as many layouts as you need. Every file is content-addressed by its SHA-256 hash before it's accepted, so the same video uploaded under two different names is stored once, not twice.

This is different from a folder of files sitting behind a design tool. A media asset in CloudyFy TV is a first-class record with its own renditions, its own upload date, and its own list of every layout that references it, so you can tell at a glance whether deleting something will actually break a screen that's currently live. Marketing teams juggling seasonal campaigns, and IT teams responsible for a fleet's storage bill, both work from the same library, not separate copies.

  • SHA-256 dedupe on every upload, before it consumes storage
  • Automatic image renditions: a 1920px WebP for landscape screens, a 1080x1920 WebP for portrait, plus a thumbnail
  • PDF thumbnails generated automatically for browsing
  • Folders to organize a growing library

How does media processing work in CloudyFy TV?

  1. Upload

Drop in a video, image, PDF, or GIF. CloudyFy TV hashes it immediately; if the same file already exists in your library, it's linked instead of stored again.
  2. A fast preview publishes first

For video, a poster thumbnail and a playable rung, H.264 up to 720p, are ready within moments, so you're not staring at a blank thumbnail while the rest processes.
  3. The full ladder finishes in the background

Additional quality rungs, up to 4K with HEVC, generate without blocking you from assigning the asset to a layout.
  4. Organize and reuse

File the asset into a folder, drop it into any layout or playlist, and it's tracked as one asset even if a dozen screens play it.

Why does media management matter?

  • Storage that doesn't punish reuse

Use the same hero video across 40 layouts and it's stored once, not 40 times.

  • The right resolution for the right screen

A 4K video wall tile and a small tablet menu board each get a rendition sized for them, generated automatically instead of manually exported.

  • PDFs are browsable, not opaque files

A thumbnail is generated so you can tell one PDF from another at a glance in the library grid.

  • Mistakes are recoverable

Deleted media sits in trash for 30 days, adjustable from 1 to 365 days on your account, before it's gone for good, so an accidental delete doesn't mean a re-upload.

Media library vs. manually managing files

Without a content-addressed library, teams end up with the same video re-uploaded under five filenames across five folders, each consuming its own storage and each a separate thing to update if the content changes. Manual resizing for different screen shapes means someone exports a portrait and a landscape version by hand, or skips it and lets one screen show the wrong crop. CloudyFy TV's library hashes on upload and renders every resolution automatically, so the library reflects what you actually have, not what got exported and forgotten.

The proof: what happens on upload

Deduplication is enforced at the storage layer, not just the interface: a file's SHA-256 hash is computed before it's written, so re-uploading an identical file, even renamed, never creates a second copy. On the video side, a fast preview rung publishes first so you can use new footage in minutes, while the full transcode ladder, up to four rungs including 4K HEVC, finishes without holding up your work.
