What is bezel compensation?
You don’t need to buy thin-bezel displays to build a clean-looking video wall; you need software that does the math a thin bezel would otherwise make unnecessary. Here’s what bezel compensation is and how CloudyFy TV calculates it.
- Bezel compensation
- Bezel compensation is the calculation that hides the physical frame between screens in a video wall, so an image split across multiple displays looks continuous instead of interrupted by black bars. Software estimates each screen’s bezel width and shifts the rendered content so what falls under the bezel isn’t shown at all, only implied.
Bezel compensation vs bezel-less displays
Bezel compensationvsBezel-less displays
Bezel compensation is a software fix; a bezel-less or ultra-narrow-bezel display is a hardware one, and buyers sometimes assume they need to spend on the hardware to get a clean video wall. Bezel compensation exists precisely so ordinary TVs with normal bezels can be used instead: the software does the offset math that a narrow-bezel panel would otherwise make unnecessary, at a fraction of the hardware cost. That doesn’t mean bezel width stops mattering. Wider bezels still hide slightly more of the image behind the frame; compensation makes the seam look intentional rather than broken, it doesn’t make the bezel disappear.
How does bezel compensation work in CloudyFy TV?
CloudyFy TV’s wall designer measures each tile’s bezel in millimetres and computes a per-tile viewport on the server, so the content that would fall behind the frame is offset out of view rather than stretched across it. The designer includes a live test pattern for calibrating this per wall before it goes live, and the compensation recalculates automatically if a tile in the grid is swapped for a different screen model with different bezel dimensions.
